About The Author
On March 14, 2013, World Kidney Day, Carole appeared before her congressmen on Capitol Hill as a patient advocate. She had been chosen by the National Kidney Foundation to participate as part of a group from throughout the United States to encourage the passing of certain bills. One issue pertained to the extension of Medicare payment for immunosuppressant drugs; another involved the protecting of dialysis access and quality care at dialysis centers; and the third issue was to promote prescreening for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), this "silent" killer.
Carole lives in Mechanicsburg, PA, with her husband, Don. They have two children and four grandchildren. Serving as a docent for the Pennsylvania Governor's Residence, Carole enjoys touring and educating visitors. She is also a tour guide for Hershey Entertainment and Resort Company, boarding incoming buses and touring its passengers throughout the town of Hershey, PA, and visiting the Milton Hershey School.
In an effort to educate the general public about transplantation (clearing up some serious misconceptions as well) and to promote organ donation to save lives, Carole speaks to church groups, women's organizations and civic clubs. Her testimonial speaks of her faith in God and how He saw her through her most difficult days. She shares just what kept her strong and motivated. Carole's memoir is endorsed by The Kidney Foundation of Central Pennsylvania. Transplanted to Better Health won first place, Health Category, in the 2012 Xulon Press' Christian Choice Book Awards contest. It also took honorable mention, Spiritual Category, at the 2013 New England Book Festival.
